Jeffrey Schwartz, M.D. Gastroenterology December 27, 2022Dr. H. Jeffrey Schwartz graduated from Amherst College and New York University School of Medicine. He completed an internship, residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. Dr. Schwartz is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Aminat Oluyemi, M.D. Gastroenterology December 27, 2022Dr. Oluyemi graduated from University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor’s of Science in Neurobiology and Physiology. She earned her Medical Degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and spent an additional year on faculty in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Oluyemi completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Her interests include all of gastroenterology and hepatology. She has special interests in colon cancer prevention, inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal disorders and liver disease. She is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Oluyemi is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Agazi Gebreselassie, M.D. Gastroenterology December 27, 2022Dr. Agazi Gebreselassie obtained his medical degree from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. He trained in internal medicine at Howard University Hospital. He then worked as an internist at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Howard University Hospital. He then pursued a training in advanced/therapeutic endoscopy at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic. His interests include all areas of gastroenterology including colon cancer prevention, complications of liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, Barrett’s esophagus, therapeutic endoscopy, luminal dilation and stenting, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic ultrasonography. Dr. Gebreselassie is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, The American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and is Board Certified in Gastroenterology.
Damodar Pandey, M.D. Gastroenterology December 27, 2022Dr. Damodar Pandey was born in the beautiful Himalayan country, Nepal, and completed his medical school from Rangpur Medical College (Rajshahi University), Bangladesh. After working as a clinical research associate, he completed two years of general surgery residency, internal medicine residency and then fellowship in Gastroenterology from Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY. During his specialization in Gastroenterology, he was awarded “Teaching Fellow of the Year” and for “Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students”. When asked about the principle of his patient care, Dr. Pandey says, “When I manage any patient, the first thing comes to my mind is that what I would do if the patient was my family member or friend. This conscience always drives me to provide the best possible treatment to all my patients”. His area of interests includes colon cancer prevention, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and irregular bowel habit including diarrhea and constipation. Dr. Pandey is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He enjoys spending his free time with family, playing with his two little kids, watching movies, listening music, and traveling.
Nauroz Syed, M.D., MHS Gastroenterology December 20, 2023 Dr. Nauroz Syed recently joined the team at Woodholme Gastroenterology. Her practice encompasses the comprehensive management of gastrointestinal diseases with a subspecialty interest in pancreaticobiliary diseases. She performs general and interventional endoscopic procedures. One aspect of the practice she likes to emphasize is a proficiency in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). She is excited to bring access to EUS to the community in Carroll County, for varied applications including the diagnosis and staging of gastrointestinal malignancies, evaluation of pancreatitis, and screening for pancreatic cancer. She is currently accepting new patients and would greatly appreciate referrals for individuals in need of routine and specialized GI services.
April S. Tignor, M.D., MPH Gastroenterology December 20, 2023Dr. April Tignor received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College and completed internal medicine residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell. She proceeded to complete fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she was also a clinical fellow. She concurrently received a Masters in Public Health with a focus in Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard School of Public Health. A Maryland native, Dr. Tignor returned to Maryland to complete advanced gastroenterology training in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital where she also served on faculty as Instructor in the gastroenterology division. Dr. Tignor is board certified in Internal medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Her areas of clinical expertise include but are not limited to, the diagnosis and management of gastroenterology disorders and liver disease, colon cancer diagnosis and prevention, management and diagnosis of Inflammatory bowel disease, Irritable Bowel syndrome, Esophageal and digestive disorders, disorders of gut motility, and pancreatic diseases. She has expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, enteroscopy, small bowel capsule endoscopy; endoscopic ultrasound, and fibroscan interpretation. Alfred Lee-Young, M.D. Gastroenterology March 7, 2024Maryland is considered home to Alfred Lee-Young, MD. He is a graduate of Calvert Hall College High School and Loyola College in Maryland. He attended Medical School and received his Internal Medicine training at the University of Maryland Medical System(UMMS). He completed his G.I. fellowship at the University of Connecticut. During his fellowship he was a grant recipient from the American Liver Foundation (ALF) where he did liver research and published on gene therapy. He also had particular interest in ERCP and therapeutic biliary endoscopy. He currently lives in Carroll County and has been providing Gastroenterology and Hepatology care to the community for more than two decades. He has vast experience in all core G.I. and liver disorders. His interests include therapeutic and biliary endoscopy, Hepatology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Colorectal Cancer Screening. He has served on The Carroll Hospital Center Foundation board and the Medical Executive Committee. Mfoniso Daniel Umoren, M.D., Gastroenterology June 6, 2024Dr. Mfoniso Daniel Umoren obtained his medical degree in St Lucia. He completed his internal medicine residency at MedStar Baltimore Internal Medicine Program and fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, followed by an advanced interventional endoscopy fellowship at the same institution. Dr. Umoren’s professional interest are therapeutic endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), advanced polypectomy, management of pancreaticobiliary disorders, management of complications of liver disease, early detection and endoscopic mucosal resection of gastrointestinal neoplasia, luminal stenting and dilation, and treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding. He also has an interest in global health and health disparity.
Diana A. Whitehead, M.D., Gastroenterology June 6, 2024Dr. Diana Whitehead completed her gastroenterology fellowship with a focus on inflammatory disease at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She also served as an instructor of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Dr. Whitehead completed her residency in internal medicine at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, and earned her medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Before joining our team, Dr. Whitehead served as the Director of the Inflammatory Disease Center at GBMC, where she established the program in 2018. She is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and improving the lives of patients with gastrointestinal disorders and liver disease, with a particular interest in treating patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Dr. Whitehead holds professional memberships in the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. She is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. Her expertise in inflammatory bowel disease has been recognized in several publications and peer-reviewed journals, and she has been named one of Baltimore Magazine’s Top Doctors.
